Goat Simulator (Uncontrollable Laughter #3)

04-20-2020

I'm not going to lie, I haven't been laughing a whole lot during quarantine. I've been feeling pretty depressed, to be completely honest. I'm stuck at home, I can't see my friends, and almost everything I have is still sitting in Fort Worth in my apartment. Despite all that, it doesn't mean I haven't had good times while I've been home. There have been times where I haven't been able to stop laughing, though they are rarer at the moment.

One of these moments was last night with my little sister. Like many people during this time of self-isolation, we have been staying up way later than we should be, despite the feeling of sleep-deprivation. Lately, my sister and I have been watching American Horror Story far into the night (well, she is watching, I'm re-watching). Last night, when my sister and I finished our last episode for the night, I remembered something from earlier that day. I'd been showing my sister the games I have on my computer to see if she was interested in any, and I scrolled over Goat Simulator, a glorious game I'd all but forgotten about. She'd looked at me with confusion when I gasped upon remembering the game, and I promised her I would show her later. For some reason, my exhausted brain decided that two or so in the morning was the perfect time.

For those of you that don't know about Goat Simulator, it is basically an intentionally buggy game where physics don't matter and you play as a goat running around licking and destroying things. Also, when you lick things, you stick to them (that's important to remember).

So I pulled up the game and jumped right in with my sister. We were immediately cackling as I had the goat flopping around on a trampoline and headbutting gas tanks to make them explode. What finally sent us into a true fit of laughter was when I decided to lick the side of a car doing donuts in a field and let it fling me around, my floppy goat body crashing into people, tables, and other cars (which naturally caused them to explode). We laughed so hard we could barely breathe, and as we came down from our laughter, I detached myself from the spinning car and was promptly launched across the map, sending us into another bout of laughter. The only reason we stopped playing and laughing was to avoid waking our poor sleeping parents downstairs. Sleep deprivation might have helped, but we were laughing nonetheless.

Here is my recreation of last night's events:

  2. I had never heard of the goat simulator either! With the video, it looks and sounds like a pretty funny game - I might check it out. I'm sorry you have been feeling down during this time, but luckily, we are not alone in this situation, and you are getting to enjoy time with your sister. That is super valuable!

  3. I have never heard of this, but the fact that someone took the time to make a game like this, which seems odd, but looks fun, is funny in its own right.
